celtic? no, greek.

turns out i was wrong about D’s name.  it’s not gaelic/celtic/british in any way.  i’m not even sure where i came up with that idea and now i know it is greek, it makes a whole lot more sense, especially if you know anything about architecture.  i won’t tell you his name, but think columns.  there’s ionic, corinthian, and d—-.  now think oscar wilde and a picture that ages.  ok, you got it now?  anyway, his name is greek and means “of the sea”  while his middle name means “gift from god”.  so, his names together must mean a he is a gift from Poseidon.

thankfully choosing this boy’s name has been much less traumatic than the choosing of D’s name.  it took us months and a whole lot of tears (on my part) to come up with D’s name.  this time it was pretty smooth.  the name we finally settled on i actually liked for a boy or girl, so i have been pretty set on it for a few months.  my husband wasn’t too keen on it being a girl’s name but it turns out it is a moot point anyway.  i read in an old farmer’s almanac that having initials that spelled something was considered good luck so we made sure to pick names that did.  D’s initials are D.E.W. while the new boy is R.A.W.

so yeah, only 4.5 months to go.  clothes? check.  diapers? in the mail.  furniture? at my brother’s house, so check.  a place to put furniture?  uh…….  well, at least the passage of time is inversely proportional to how much work is left to do.

I found it so much harder to name my second than my first. We loved the name of our son so much, the bar was set pretty high.

I suppose that a gift from Poseidon is preferable to one from his brother Hades, isn’t it?

DGB- i was pretty worried at first because i really love D’s name. R’s name never even came up in convo last time, so it was pretty surprising that my husband thought of it this time. but fortunately, i love this name just as much.

Ophmac- yes yes! very true. we would prefer no gifts from Hades. :)
