just lazy.  Lazy about posting all the things i have wanted to tell you about.

i’ve wanted to tell you about the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act which could, potentially, kill the entire handmade and thrift industries when it comes to children’s products.  bad news.  they want EVERY item intended for a person under 13, that is for sale, used or not, tested for certain toxic components.  “but wait!” you say, “isn’t that a good thing?”   well, yes and no.  virtually ALL of the recalled toys came out of china.  not handmade items off etsy or clothes bought at the Goodwill store.  sure, test all the mass produced crap coming off the tainted assembly line in china, or wherever it was produced.  test all imports!!  but don’t put a mom and pop business out of business just because you think that SOMEWHERE SOMETHING could be lurking.  shit, if all fears were true, the human species would have died a long time ago.

crap, i’m so uninspired to actually do anything right now… i started this post a few days ago, but whatever.  ok, so maybe not totally uninspired.   you know that Obama guy?  yeah, that’s President Obama now and that has actually had a good portion of my mental energy lately.  i’m so filled with rainbows and sunshine and unicorn faerie magic right now, it bubbles over.  anyway, it feels good to be a part of this moment in time.  it feels good to have a little credit (just a wee bit, i know.  a very small, but potentially bigger let’s-see-how-the-next-4-years-go, minuscule wee bit) for being an American.  i know, i know, the last 8 years have been horrendous.  hey, i voted, i did the minimum required for a “bitch card” 8 years ago and 4 years ago.   this year, we have realized that we cannot defeat the old white rich man, with another old white rich man, which until this last Tuesday, was all the white house had ever had.   nothing much against Gore and Kerry, but it is obvious that they were not the answer, nor did they speak the language of the country.  i voted party lines, but that’s all.  Obama though, he has inspired millions and millions.  let’s keep the rainbows and sunshine around, k people?  we will need it through the dark days ahead.

and one way to do that is : www.usaservice.org  last Monday was the National Day of Service.  the Dictator and I did a downtown clean-up and it was a beautiful day for spending outside.  i will be continuing to look for events to participate in and hopefully D and i can find a group to work with on a regular basis.   hell, maybe if i can’t find one, i can get a family friendly group going!  having small children often limits flexibility and nature of the activity, but i think there are many ways to get them involved.  Monday’s service was perfect.  we spent about an hour and a half outside finding things on the ground.  he got to sift through stuff in the gutter.  he found a pencil.  we marveled over the amount of lollypop sticks outside the courthouse.  what more could a boy want?
