sewing room is almost done!

i had a yard sale today.  made some money.  now i will look for a chair for my sewing room.  yesterday i got the table and thread board from my mama-lady in exchange for my son.  i think it was a fair trade.  the catch was that i had to take him back this afternoon.  can’t i take him back when he’s 4 or has a job or something??  hehe!  no, the house was too quiet this morning.  i don’t think i could be away from him for too long.  i would miss all the sweet kisses and silly jokes.

“hey mama, know what?”

“what”

-deadpan-  “chicken butt.”

then we laugh and laugh!!

meanwhile, back at the sewing room….

the table is smaller than i expected, but it is really perfect.  the room isn’t that big, and i want to be able to move around in there,  plus it folds out and becomes 2x’s as large.

the thread board is also courtesey of mama.  have i ever told you how great she is?  ’cause she is.  don’t tell her that though.  she likes to be wicked.  but she really is pretty great.  both my folks are.  this room was actually made possible by the letter C and my dad teaching me how to use power tools.  thank you daddy!  (i should also point out that all 3 lamps were given to me by them and the wardrobe is from a family friend through my parents.  they even hauled it up to my end of the valley!)

it will be nice to have my own room again.  i don’t really understand why we have to give up having our own rooms when we get married.  i’m still a teenager at heart sometimes, and like to plaster posters of my favourite bands (my huge Smiths one is totally going up somewhere in here!  and so is my Everything But The Girl one.), put up tokens and mementos of silly things and events, fill my surroundings with my life’s little inspirations.  (i still have the valentine candy hearts that my best friend and i exchanged senior year in high school.  they have a shelf life of 3,000 years, i think.)

the bulletin board was left just how i packed it up 4 years ago.  drawings and paintings from friends, pictures of friends, picture of my childhood cat, stickers, jewlery, it’s all there.  this board and this room will change amd evolve over time.  i will try to not let it end up being a dumping ground for my stuff.  i will use my powers for good, not evil.  i will create and explore in this room.  AND i will try to keep my shit organized so i can do all of the above mentioned things.
