some things
Posted by andromeda*art on July 29th, 2008 filed in ooglie booglie, sewingi know i have been very lax in writing this last week, i’m sorry. summer days are lazy and hot around here, and it seems that i find myself absorbed in books and websites, but not doing much typing.
i discovered a new bug site last night and this morning i identified that HUGE dragonfly from last week. turns out it is known as a Green Darner. so, do you have a bug you would like to know what it is? check out What’s That Bug? and the folks over there will probably know. it seems that most (if not all) pictures are reader submitted and one of these days i might send them a few of my friends from the garden.
i have also been busy this past week setting up my sewing room. we have been hard at work here rearranging rooms, moving rooms, clearing stuff out for a yard sale, and attempting to give the Dictator the attention he wants. so, i guess these last few weeks have not really been filled with lazyness afterall.
moving the guestroom upstairs and turning the downstairs room into my sewing room has really gotten my creative juices flowing. (ok, that and watching a shit-load of the home and garden network) since the room is already a lovely shade of lavender (picked out by my husband, i should add) i decided not to repaint. i did break out my acrylic paints and paint a dragonfly on the wall. it seemed appropriate because of the recurring theme around here in the summer. i draw the line at spiders though. i love them (except for black widows. they scare me) but dragonflies are WAY cuter. well, maybe i will relent and paint some small ones. in the corners. that would be fun!!
so here are some pictures. the room is not finished yet. i’m on my way to lowe’s for a few things in a minute. but rest assured readers! i will post pictures when it is done!
(notice the “help” a certain 3 year old gave me with a little crimson on the end of the tail.)
(the same 3 year old was serenading me while i was snapping pictures. i love it!)
