2 years and counting!

after reading Sadie’s post wishing her beautiful dog a happy birthday, i realized that we found our sweet little Sirius Black 2 years ago, today.  he was all of about a month old, and the cutest little black-labish puppy.  he was so eager to please, he learned “sit” right away.  i don’t have any pictures from those days because there was NO WAY i was going to take on another dog.  we already had one that wasn’t really working out, why bring another dog in the picture?

but when it came time to find him a home, i couldn’t bear to part with him.  he was so sweet!  did i mention how incredibly cute he was?  so, we ended up keeping him and naming him Sirius Black.  can you guess where that came from?

The above picture really capture’s Sirius’ nature.  he is a goofy dog, although completely loyal and protective of me and the Dictator when dad’s not around.  he’s got a deformed hip, which will suck as he gets older, but for now it’s great because he doesn’t jump.  it doesn’t t slow him down either.

we think he might be part border collie due to his body shape and markings.  whatever he is, it is a great combonation.  he’s smart and knows the difference between his “toy” and his “bone”.  i taught him to shake, but now he just wants to hold my hand all the time.  he’ll come up to me and literally put his paw in my hand and look adoringly at me.

he’s MY dog too.  i mean, he might (or might not) listen to someone else, but he ALWAYS listens to me.  he will sit by the front door when i go out and wait there until i get back.  this has resulted in paws getting hit by the opening door because he hasn’t mastered the art of staying back.  he just wants to be as close as he can to me.

i also love that i can take him out front without a leash and he won’t run off.  he might run after other dogs to play, but he’s not looking to find a new home.  he knows what he has here is good, and he isn’t interested in going elsewhere.  and frankly, i’m not intersted in him going anywhere either.
