is it me?
Posted by andromeda*art on June 5th, 2008 filed in rantsso, have you ever heard of those people who have an effect on inanimate objects around them? well, either i am one of them, or things are made very shoddy these days.
lightbulbs burn out especially quick in my house, electrical things quit working or work sporadically, batteries die quickly, ect. it is so strange. the last few years i have been noticing it more and more.
- our garage light burned out about a month after we moved into a BRAND NEW HOUSE.
- i replaced all the traditional lightbulbs in our house with the low-energy fluorescents (guaranteed to last at least 7 years) and there are 2 already out. i replaced them less than 6 months ago.
- i have to replace the bulbs in any mag light I use regularly, probably 2 x’s a year.
- there are a least 2 things in my house which are plugged in that i have to set the cord just right for it to work
- we are on our 2nd fridge in 3 years. (this wasn’t all an electrical problem though. it was the ice tray kept breaking for the most part) oh yeah, somehow the circuitry got fried.
- the microwave will not work for me. it dies 3 seconds in. my husband usually has no problems with it though. i am 30 years old and have to ask him to make microwave popcorn for me. WTF?
- hard drive crashed on computer after 3 months. this one–so far so good (fingers crossed)
next to go will probably be my cell phone. then home phone, the cable, then TV. i hope it is not me! maybe i’m magnetic and changing the force around electronics. hmm…. maybe i should call a paranormal investigator and check for poltergeists or something.
or maybe the electronics industry figures that if they build shit, it will break and people will buy new shit. (that is the more likely story.)

Stumble it!

There’s no quality these days. Everythings built to break down sooner or later…just another way to build value into a product (value for the corporations!)

My Uncle (my mother’s brother) could not wear a watch that touched his skin. It would stop within the hour. My cousin S. used to be the same way. Then watch manftrs figured out that some people do produce a lot of electricity. I don’t know I’m just saying - maybe

I don’t know what the answer is, but when this kind of things happens my advice is to make a rather liberal use of Occam’s razor.
The big advantage of using such a “device” is that it doesn’t need batteries.
