a future sculptor

so i try to keep the musings about my son, D, to a minimum, lest i be labeled a “mommyblog” this is not a “mommyblog” for 2 reasons:

1. i hate being called “mommy”. i think it sounds whiny and frankly, small children whine enough as it is. once they get going, they can turn any word into nails on a blackboard. call me a “mama” but i am NOT a mommy.
2. apparently “mommyblogs” have a rep. of what exactly, i don’t know. negative though. i read a few, after all, i am a mom, but i find the ones i like the best center on the blogger’s life and loves. their children are usually only one part of the equation. i do not only blog about the kid.

this blog is about MY life and interests, and Mr. D is part of that. so occasionally i may write about the funniest guy in my house.

today we are going to focus on D, the budding artist.

we spent memorial day morning trying to figure out what to do with all the wood i had left over from my design class. i started weaving some together figuring i could find a nice spot for it to rot in the garden. (after further investigation i realized that because of the bulge the bent wood created, wasps would find the location fantastic no matter where i stuck it. i fucking hate wasps.)

D had to get in on the action. (be sure to hover over the pics)

the best part is, this was better than some of the BFA graduation art shows that i have seen a school. better thought out and makes more sense. god, i hate art school. “one more semester” has become my new mantra.
